Job Vacancy: Environment Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Environment Manager to lead environmental compliance, mine reclamation, and closure planning. The ideal candidate will act as the chief adviser on environmental concerns, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and international best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and ensure compliance with environmental regulations from Ghanaian authorities and international organizations (e.g., IFC).
  • Develop and implement a compliance-based environmental monitoring program.
  • Manage all permitting and licensing applications.
  • Train personnel on environmental monitoring and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Develop waste management strategies, including hazardous waste handling and recycling.
  • Implement and maintain ISO14001-compliant Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
  • Oversee progressive rehabilitation and land restoration projects.
  • Coordinate with social and community teams for sustainable development initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or MBA is an advantage.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Manager’s Certificate of Competence from the Minerals Commission (Ghana).
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within mining operations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with international health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Proven ability to drive change and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
  • Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency or equivalent certification.
  • 5-10 years of experience in alluvial and open-cast mining, with at least 3 years in senior management.
  • Strong understanding of mining software.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
