Senior Engineer – Medium Term Mine Planning
Role Responsibilities
- Develop Comprehensive Plans: Create medium-term plans that integrate grade control, drilling, blasting, detailed trucking, and maintenance schedules based on the Bench Progression Strategy or Blast Master.
- Design Implementation: Develop detailed, practical, and minable designs to ensure mine plans are realistic and achievable.
- Strategic Direction: Guide the Short-Term planning team to ensure alignment between Short, Medium, and Long-Term mine plans.
- Plan Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to Long-Term mine plans, identifying and mitigating potential impacts on Life of Mine plans.
- Assumption Building: Collaborate on mine planning assumptions for operational, business, and life-of-mine planning cycles.
- Plan Development: Assist in developing operational, business, and life-of-mine plans, including:
- Pit Optimization
- Pit and Dump Designs
- Mine Scheduling
- Costing
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- At least 5 years of open-pit planning experience, preferably in a high-volume selective mining environment.
- Expertise to act as a competent person for Mineral Reserve Estimation at Tarkwa Mine.
Key Skills
- Technical Expertise:
- Proven open-pit production and equipment scheduling experience.
- Proficiency in mine optimization software, particularly Whittle.
- Business Acumen: Strong ability to influence key cost drivers in a mining environment.
- Communication: Excellent English skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse cultures.
