Ghana Armed Forces Opens 2024 Enlistment

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially begun its enlistment process for the Regular Career Course and Short Service Commission Officers for 2024. Here are the key details regarding the available arms of service, basic eligibility criteria, application guidelines, and important notices.

Available Arms of Service:

Basic Eligibility:

To qualify for enlistment, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a citizen of Ghana with good character and conduct.
  • Applicants must not be bonded by employment, education, or training of any sort.
  • Prospective cadets should not be married.
  • Must not be under 18 by 31st March 2025.
  • Candidates should be medically fit according to GAF standards.
  • Must be able to pass the Pre Joining Fitness Test.
  • Height Requirements:
    • Men: at least 1.68 meters (5’6″) tall.
    • Women: at least 1.60 meters (5’4″) tall.
    • For Military Police: Men must be at least 1.75 meters (5’9″) tall; Women must be at least 1.70 meters (5’7″).
  • Academic Qualifications:
    • Six (6) passes in BECE, including English and Mathematics.
    • WASSCE results must include six (6) credits, with Mathematics, Science, and English language (all six credits should not be less than C6).
    • For SSCE, six passes are required, with Core Mathematics and Science included (scores should not be less than grade D).

      Levels “O” and “A”: Five (5) credits in the GCE “O” Level (not less than C6) in English and Mathematics, and at least a D in three other subjects and the General Paper at the GCE “A” Level.

Application Guidelines for the Ghana Armed Forces Enlistment:

  1. Carefully read through the requirements to ensure qualification.
  2. Purchase a scratch card for the online application at a designated post office for GH¢350.
  3. Click on “Apply Now” at this link and fill in your scratch card serial and pin code details.
  4. Choose your preferred arm of service and your highest educational level, then click the submit button.
  5. Select your desired branch and enter your bio data and academic details. Upload a passport-sized photo (200×180 pixels) and then submit your application.
  6. Print out a copy of your application summary, which contains your application ID and other important data.

Closing Date: The deadline for online submission is Friday, 11th October 2024.

Important Notice:

The military has issued a warning to the public about individuals posing as middlemen, agents, or intermediaries who ask for money to assist candidates with enlistment. Such cases should be reported to the nearest military installation or police station. The public is advised against paying money to agents with the expectation of securing enlistment in the force, as those who do are also culpable in the fraudulent act.
