Ama Governor Finally Called to the Bar After Two Years of Controversy

Social media influencer and law school graduate, Elorm Ababio, known as Ama Governor, has finally been called to the Ghana Bar after a two-year struggle with the General Legal Council (GLC).

Ababio was officially sworn in alongside 181 other individuals at a ceremony on May 31, 2024. This marks a significant milestone in her career, following two consecutive denials from the GLC in 2022 and 2023.

The GLC initially cited “conduct unbecoming of an applicant to be called to the Bar” as the reason for denying her entry. This decision sparked public debate, with many questioning the specific reasons and the GLC’s decision-making process.

Despite the controversy, Ababio persevered and ultimately received her call to the Bar. This victory signifies a significant step forward in her legal career and highlights the ongoing discussions surrounding the GLC’s standards and procedures.
