Job Description

As the College Finance Officer, the successful candidate will assume the following responsibilities:

1. Chief Accounting Officer:
   • Act as the Chief Accounting Officer of the College and serve as the Chief Financial Advisor to the Principal.
2. Financial Administration:
   • Administer the financial affairs of the college to ensure its fiscal health, with direct supervision over all accounting officers.
3. Revenue Collection:
   • Collect all legitimate revenue due to the college, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
4. Expenditure Control:
   • Exercise control over expenditure in alignment with the college’s objectives and budgets.
5. Budget Preparation:
   • Prepare the annual budget for the college, presenting it to the appropriate governing body for approval and implementation.
6. Financial Statement Compliance:
   • Ensure the preparation of financial statements in accordance with relevant laws, statutes, accounting standards, and regulations. Facilitate the auditing process with external auditors.

Qualifications and Experience

To be eligible for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education:
  • A Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, coupled with a professional qualification.
• Experience:
  • At least four years of experience as a Deputy Finance Officer in a college of Education or a comparable grade in a similar institution/organization.
• Membership:
  • Membership of a recognized professional accountancy body.
• Skills:
  • Analytical, critical, result-oriented, innovative, and visionary. Possess hands-on ability to work independently.
• Communication and IT Skills:
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills. Proficient in IT with familiarity in accounting software.
• Deadline Orientation:
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and proactive commercial flair.

Tenure of Office

The appointment is full-time and initially for four years, with the possibility of renewal for another term of four years, contingent upon satisfactory performance.
