Widow of Ghanaian Deputy Finance Minister Refutes Claims of Food Poisoning, Reveals Terminal Illness Battle

Introduction: In a recent interview with Asaase News, Apostle Lilian Kumah, the widow of the late deputy Finance Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) member of Parliament for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, has debunked circulating reports suggesting her husband’s demise was due to food poisoning. Instead, she revealed that he valiantly fought a severe illness for over a year.

Request to Cease Speculation: Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, also the General Overseer of Disciples of Christ Ministries, urged those speculating about the cause of her husband’s death to refrain from doing so, emphasizing the added pain it brings to her family. She specifically called for action against individuals, including Blessed Godsbrain Smart, known as Captain Smart, who publicly asserted her husband was poisoned without providing any evidence.

Urgent Call for Justice: Expressing her frustration, Mrs. Kumah urged authorities to take swift legal action against Captain Smart and others spreading false claims about her husband’s death. She stressed the need for accountability and justice, especially considering the impact of such unfounded allegations on her late husband’s legacy and their family’s grieving process.

Clarification of Diagnosis: Mrs. Kumah clarified that her husband was diagnosed with a blood-related disease in August 2023 during a medical check-up in Germany. Despite undergoing various medical procedures both in Germany and Ghana, poisoning was never mentioned as a cause by any of the attending physicians.

Endurance and Motivation: Despite his illness, John Kumah exhibited remarkable strength and resilience, motivated by his commitment to duty and service. Mrs. Kumah highlighted his enduring spirit and determination to fulfill his responsibilities, even amidst great pain and suffering.

Final Moments: Tragically, Dr. John Kumah passed away on March 7, 2024, at the Suhum government hospital. Despite efforts to stabilize him for transfer to Accra and then to Germany for further treatment, his condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his untimely demise.

Conclusion: The widow’s poignant revelation sheds light on the true circumstances surrounding her husband’s passing, urging the public to refrain from spreading baseless rumors. As the family mourns their loss, they seek closure and justice, hoping that the memory of John Kumah will be honored with dignity and respect.
