WAC-SRT/DAAD Scholarships: Apply Now for MPhil and PhD Programs in Sustainable Development – SDD UBIDS

The West African Centre for Sustainable Rural Transformation (WAC-SRT) at the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) is offering scholarships for the 2024/2025 academic year. These scholarships are available for two programs:

  • MPhil in Development Management (2 years, full-time)
  • PhD in Planning for Sustainable Development (4 years, full-time)

Eligibility and Admission Requirements

MPhil in Development Management

  • Applicants must have a first degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in a relevant field from a recognized university.
  • For DAAD scholarship applicants, a First Class Upper Division with a degree no older than six years is required.
  • Two years of work experience in a relevant field is required.

  • All applicants must submit transcripts, certificates, and other relevant documents.
  • DAAD scholarship applicants must also submit a motivation letter, CV, and a 10-page research proposal.
  • A selection interview will be conducted (face-to-face for local applicants, online for international applicants).
  • Successful DAAD scholarship recipients will be awarded a two-year contract.

PhD in Planning for Sustainable Development

  • Applicants must have a very good MPhil/MSc/MA degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Submit transcripts, certificates, and relevant documents from both graduate and undergraduate programs.
  • For DAAD scholarship applicants, a second degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division with a degree no older than six years is required.
  • Two years of research experience are relevant for admission.
  • DAAD scholarship applicants must submit a motivation letter, CV, and a 10-page research proposal.
  • A selection interview will be conducted (face-to-face for local applicants, online for international applicants).
  • The successful DAAD scholarship recipient will be awarded a three-year contract.

How to Apply

All Ghanaian Applicants

  1. Apply through the UBIDS Online Admissions Portal (https://ubids.edu.gh/).
  2. Pay a fee of GH¢180.00 (One Hundred and Eighty Ghana Cedis) at designated banks or via mobile money service.
  3. Upload your recent passport photo and relevant certificates.
  4. Submit a printed application summary with results slips, certificates, and other documents (three copies) to the Director (Academic and Student Affairs Section) at SDD-UBIDS.

Foreign Applicants

  1. Follow steps 1-4 for Ghanaian applicants.
  2. Send three sets of application documents by express mail to the same address.

DAAD Scholarship Applicants (All)

  • In addition to the above steps, email a scanned copy of your application and all documents to the Coordinator of Programs at WAC-SRT ([email address removed]) with a copy to the Assistant Registrar (Academics & Student Affairs) ([email address removed]).
  • Combine all scanned documents into a single PDF file.
