the caucus regarding a proposed reshuffle of the parliamentary front bench. The meeting aimed to address the discord among members over potential leadership changes.

Reports suggest a divided caucus, with one faction advocating for a change in leadership while others support maintaining the current leadership. Those in favor of change argue that Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu may not return to Parliament in 2025, hence his deputy, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, should assume leadership to ensure a smoother transition in the next government.

On February 20, some NPP MPs, led by 1st Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the current leadership and opposed any change. However, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s resignation may facilitate a seamless transition in caucus leadership.

As per the current arrangement, Alexander Afenyo-Markin is expected to step in as the Majority Leader pending official communication from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The outcome of the meeting is anticipated to chart the course forward for the caucus amidst the leadership transition.
