The USAID GHSC-PSM Project is the main channel through which USAID provides supply chain technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service (GHS). The project’s primary goals include improving the management of Ghana’s health supply chain, procuring and providing health commodities, and collaborating with key stakeholders to support global health initiatives, particularly in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Role of the Regional HIV/AIDS Program Officer
The Regional HIV/AIDS Program Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the availability and security of HIV/AIDS commodities in Ghana’s Western Region. This position requires a hands-on professional who will provide technical support, collaborate with stakeholders, and oversee the effective distribution of HIV/AIDS commodities across key health facilities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
As the Regional HIV/AIDS Program Officer, you will:
- Coordinate HIV/AIDS commodity forecasting and supply plans with Ghana Health Service (GHS).
- Monitor stock levels and performance at prioritized health facilities, ensuring continuous availability of HIV-related commodities.
- Facilitate ARV optimization and manage the implementation of multi-month dispensing of ARVs to identified clients in facilities.
- Conduct monitoring and supervisory visits to ART sites to provide on-the-job training and ensure supply chain efficiency.
- Support the distribution of HIV commodities to ensure adequate supplies meet client needs.
- Assist in reporting and documentation, including quarterly and annual reports, as well as activity summaries.
- Support the use of the Ghana Integrated Logistics Management Information System (GhiLMIS) to ensure timely and accurate reporting of health commodity usage.
Additionally, the officer will work closely with regional supply chain governance structures and technical working groups, providing facility data analytics to enhance regional-level decision-making in the HIV supply chain.

To be considered for this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in health systems, public policy, supply chain management, or a related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience in public health, supply chain management, or a related field. Experience with USAID or other donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with government counterparts and stakeholders at national and regional levels. Fluency in English is required.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities, versatility, and integrity.
