Job Vacancy for Health, Safety & Environment Officer

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Ensure all safety policies and practices align with Mantrac Group’s safety vision and principles.
  • Develop and implement the HSE Plan.
  • Complete reports on incidents, risks, and safety performance.
  • Develop, monitor, and constantly improve health, safety, and environmental procedures for all operations.
  • Develop standard task procedures (SOP) for all operations.
  • Review safe working procedures as and when necessary.
  • Keep an up-to-date record of all health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Conduct periodic and spontaneous planned inspections of all work areas.
  • Promote awareness of health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Investigate and report all accidents and incidents.
  • Ensure staff attend and complete all mandatory health and safety courses.
  • Facilitate health and safety meetings and training courses for employees.
  • Implement live work elimination strategies on all operations.
  • Complete HSE monthly reports.
  • Complete monthly HSE and contamination control audits.
  • Perform any other assigned tasks.

Qualification Required & Experience

  • A BSc Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a related qualification.
  • NEBOSH certificate or diploma is an added advantage.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (desirable).

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a Mining, Engineering, or Construction entity.

Knowledge

Candidates must be knowledgeable in:

  • Ghanaian safety and environmental laws and statutes.
  • Risk assessment and how to conduct it.
  • Accident investigations.
  • Health, safety, and environmental statistics and their interpretation.
  • Hazardous substances and their management.
  • HSE inductions and how to organize and conduct them.
  • Report writing.

Skills

  • Excellent technical HSE knowledge and skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Tenacity and self-motivation.
  • Strong IT skills.
