Job Responsibilities

As an Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for:

• Supervising the preparation of quarterly internal audit reports.
• Conducting investigations and special audit assignments.
• Providing technical guidance to internal audit staff.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory accounting requirements and institutional policies.
• Developing and maintaining effective internal control mechanisms.
• Overseeing procurement audits and scrutinizing financial transactions.
• Reviewing information systems, networks, and databases for security and compliance.
• Undertaking audit planning and scheduling.
• Preparing and submitting quarterly audit reports to the University Council.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Terminal Degree from a recognized university.
• Be a member of a recognized professional body such as ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, or CIPFA.
• Have at least 15 years of work experience in a tertiary institution or a related industry.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to inspire, motivate, and coach others.
• Sound knowledge of financial auditing, procurement, and labour regulations.
• Proficiency in computer applications and accounting software.
