WHERE STARS WILL BE BORN!!!
An idea in the mind of an individual is gradually growing to become a place where stars will be born. An initiative that started in the mind of Thomas Duke Labik Amanquandor was later developed into a place to unite football players and football fans. It all started in what was called the University of Development Studies, WA campus now called the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS).
Acoording to Thomas Duke Labik, “During the 2016/2017 academic year, I decided to put my idea into action. I named it the ‘Mastermind Campus Superliga’”.
In the narrative, he stated “In the search for sponsorship of my idea I met ‘Ruth Dassah’, a level 200-year student who was contesting or aspiring to become the Women’s Commissioner for the School during that academic year. I told her what I had in mind and she agreed to sponsor. For each game we played I the maiden year of the Mastermind Campus Superliga she provided water for the players. As a sign of gratitude the league was renamed into Mastermind Campus Superliga-Ruth league”.
An addition was made to the earlies name of the league. So instead of Mastermind Campus Superliga it was now Mastermind Campus Superliga – Ruth League in order to acknowledge her support and contribution to the progress of the league.
The teams that articipated in the maiden year of the Mastermind Campus Superliga were University Palace, Miller FC, Rocarli (a combination if Royal, Cardinal Dery and Liman Halls respectively), Jubilee, Sugar FC, SSNIT FC, British Cottage, Fanco Hostel and Bamahu SC he stated empirically clear that there could be a few forgotten teams from the maiden edition of the Mastermind Campus Superliga.
In the maiden edition of the Mastermind Campus Superliga, MILLER FC emerged the winners of the Mastermind Campus Superliga. Again Ruth Dassah added a male goat to the grand prize to the winners of the maiden edition.
Speaking to new360gh, Thomas Duke Labik, also stated “Ruth Dassah was very instrumental in the maiden edition, and I want to thank her so much for that faith and support”.
He added “I played in the maiden edition for SSNIT FC but unfortunately we couldn’t win the league”.
A wonderful effort by an individual, even thou the idea or the brain behind the Mastermind Campus Superliga but his team never won the league showing how fair they tried to make league. After the maiden edition, he graduated from the University for Development Studies as a First Class honors student having obtained a BA. Development Studies Even after completion, he stayed in the University again where he served as a teaching attendant (TA) for a whole year as a part of the Ghanaian Mandatory National Service Programme at the Department of Development Studies. He proceeded to the Lund University, in Sweden from 2018-2020 were he obtained Master of Science in Sociology of Law and currently reading African Studies at the University of Oxford in England.
“During my time as a Teaching Assistant in the school, I captained the mastermind crew, with all financial resources coming from my end with absolutely no sponsorship. ‘Aminu’ who later became my deputy succeeded me in running the affairs of the league after my final departure from the school and country. He was instrumental and helped make it very amazing even bigger and better than the maiden edition”.
During Aminu’s tenure the same teams participated in the leagues but this time with Rocarli (a combination if Royal, Cardinal Dery and Liman Halls respectively) emerging winners of the league.
They repeated their success again in the 2018/2019 academic year, but where dethroned by current defending champions BAMAHU SOCCER CLUB who won the league in a very fantastic fashion and will look to defend their title in this years Mastermind Campus Superliga.
With the support of entities, organization, network providers, corporate bodies and other groups this league can be made more attractive and a grooming grounds for young, talented and skilled football players.
