The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a significant change for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, which will be offered twice a year starting in 2025. The first series (WASSCE PC 1) will take place in January, and the second series will be conducted in October. This change aims to help Senior High School graduates apply for tertiary admissions earlier.
Registration for the first edition of the WASSCE for Private Candidates in 2025 will open on Monday, October 21, 2024, and will close on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. This adjustment provides candidates with two opportunities to secure tertiary admission on time, enhancing their flexibility.
In 2024, WAEC also facilitated private candidates’ exams (Nov/Dec) with registration deadlines extended to September 30, 2024, for exams that will take place from October 25 to December 18, 2024
