US Embassy increases visa fees effective May 30

U.S. Embassy Increase Visa Fees from May 30th

Certain processing fees for nonimmigrant visa applications (NIV) have increased, according to the U.S. Department of State. These price hikes went into effect on May 30, 2023, and were announced in the Federal Register on March 28, 2023.

“As of May 30, 2023, the application fee for U.S. visitor visas for business, tourism, and other non-petition based nonimmigrant visas will increase from $160 to $185.  The fee for certain petition-based nonimmigrant visas (H, L, O, P, Q, and R) will increase from $190 to $205. E visa application fees will increase from $205 to $315, and the fee for a treaty trader, treaty investor, and treaty applicants in a specialty occupation (E category) will increase from $205 to $315. Other consular fees will not be affected.”

We are dedicated to speedy visa processing so that people from other countries can visit the United States. On our website, bm.usconsulate.gov, as well as the Bureau of Consular Affairs website, travel.state.gov/visas, you can find more details on the visa application process.

Following an analysis of the costs associated with providing nonimmigrant services, NIV fees are established based on those costs. The Department determines the annual cost of delivering consular services, including visa services, using the Activity-Based Costing (ABC) approach. The majority of non-petition based NIV costs last underwent an upgrade in 2012, and certain additional NIV fees underwent an update in 2014.

Visas for work and tourism are essential to President Biden’s foreign policy, and we recognize the critical role international travel plays in the U.S. economy. The U.S. Department of State is committed to facilitating legitimate travel to the United States for both immigrant and nonimmigrant travelers

President Biden’s foreign policy is dependent on visas for business and travel, and we acknowledge the vital significance that overseas travel plays in the American economy. For both immigrants and non-immigrants, the U.S. Department of State is dedicated to enabling legitimate travel to the country.
