
A Guide to Study in Italy: This Guide will help you step by step Visa and admission process to Study in Italy. The Guide also covers Scholarship, the visa process, and after arrival requirements. It is a general guide for all students but specifically for those students coming to Lazio Region (Rome and Surroundings). It will help you in understanding. Admissions are open from January to March/April. This document is prepared in February 2020.

Step 1: Find University

Step 3: Important Dates and Deadlines
Every program has its own deadline and dates. Most of the Italian universities have one intake in a year for foreign students. Admission Opens from January to March/April. However better to Check the Date on the official site of the university.
Most Universities application process is online and without application fee, in some cases, you might have to send some documents to the respective university.

Step 4: Apply for Admission
You can select any university according to your need, choice, and course.
Once you select a university. You must create your own ID on their website, look for the words “Sign up”, “Register” or “Apply”.
After creating your ID, you will be able to apply for the course of your wish. Upload all (scanned) required documents and click done.
You will receive a confirmation mail from your university (the email id on which you have registered yourself) confirming that we have received your documents etc.
Step 5: Wait for Result
Apply in 2-3 Universities and Programs for your better chances in Italy. Some universities also take Admission test and Interview (online). But it varies from university to university.
After university evaluate your documents and if you are eligible for the admission, they will send you the Offer Letter or Letter of Acceptance. Usually, they take 15-30 days.
Here are Some Most Frequently Asked Questions from Students
Question 1: My documents are not verified, will university issue “letter of acceptance”
Answer: Yes, the university will issue you an “Offer letter” or “letter of acceptance” with non-verified educational documents. However, before going to the embassy for an interview and filing your case you must verify all your educational documents from concern board, IBCC, university, and HEC.
Question 2: I don’t have my IELTS certificate, will university give me admission?
Answer: Yes, the university will grant you admission, IELTS is not required by most of the Italian universities. But for visa purposes, you need IELTS because it is required by the Italian embassy.
Question 3: How many bands do I need in IELTS?
Answer: Embassy requires min 5.5 for bachelor and 6.0 for master. However, I have seen master students getting their visas on 5.5 and bachelor getting it on 5 bands if your educational background is good.
STUDY IN ITALY
Section 2:
Step 1: Verification of the Educational Documents
BOARD: Attest Original and 4 copies of Matric/FSc Degree and Transcript from your respective board. The cost of verification depends on the board and it takes 5-10 days.
Usually, Rs. 200 rupees per document. You might be given one photocopy of each above-mentioned documents in a sealed envelope of board. You don’t have to open that
envelope, it’s for the IBCC record.
IBCC: Once your board verifies your education document you need to attest the same
documents from IBCC (http://www.ibcc.edu.pk/). You can find the location of the offices and timings from this website. Usually, it is located inside the board office building.
Note: Usually board and IBCC keeps 1-1 copy for their own record, so it’s better to take 5
copies of each document. So, in the end, you should have 3 copies of each document.
University: Take your bachelor/master’s degree + transcript (DMC) + 3,3 copies of each document and verify it from your university (fee and time required for verification differ
university to university).
STUDY IN ITALY
HEC: After verifying degree and transcript from university. Book an appointment on the HEC website for universities degree verification. Though HEC attests it in one day.
However,appointment date takes much time, depending on availability. You can attest it from HEC head office Islamabad or your regional HEC office. (HEC fees are usually 800/- PKR for original and 500/- PKR per copy).
One thing you should know that HEC will verify your degree and transcript if your Matric and Fsc certificates and DMCs are already verified.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA): After verifying all your documents from Board, IBCC, University and from HEC, you should take all you document to foreign officials or their regional office (CAMP Office) for attestation. Usually, it is in the Civil Secretariat office.
They attest it in one day. But before going to the Secretariat office. You should purchase postal stamp from the post office, it will be placed on your educational documents.

DOCUMENTS TRANSLATION: It must be done from an Authorized Person/Agency Only. It will be mentioned on the DOV Checklist or embassy website. After attestation, you need to translate these documents to ITALIAN TRANSLATION.
After that, you have your offer letter and your documents are fully and completely ready.
You will have to take an appointment in the embassy for an interview and submit your file.
Step 2: PREPARE CONSULATE/EMBASSY DOCS FOR VISA
- Visa application form + Data form
- CNIC copy
- Admission letter/ Acceptance letter
- O.V (Declaration of Value)
- Attested Educational Documents + Copies + Translation
- FORM A & FORM C
- Polio Certificate
- IELTS (Minimum 6 Bands)
- Ticket (one way towards Italy) – DUMMY TICKET
- Hotel/Accommodation Proof (DUMMY BOOKING)
- Insurance – The applicant should not obtain Travel Insurance for a single destination country but for the Schengen States. You are required to contract a full Schengen Travel
Insurance, covering – for a Minimum amount of 30,000.00 Euros (Thirty Thousand Euro’s). It will cost approx. Rs. 8,000-11,000. - Sponsor Affidavit of Support

On the day of the interview, take a fresh bank statement, not a minimum of 15 days old.
Step 3: WAIT FOR PASSPORT COLLECTION CALL: After submitting your passport, visa form and visa interview wait again for the Italian embassy/consulate to call you for passport collection.
NOTE: This whole process will take 6, 7 months. So, don’t be panic. Usually, students get their passport back from August to October with a visa sticker or rejection letter.
