Study In Germany: GSSP Germany Spemann Graduate School Scholarships 2025

The Spemann Graduate School of Biology and Medicine (SGBM) is currently accepting applications for up to four PhD positions sponsored by the DAAD Graduate School Scholarship Program (GSSP) for the academic year 2025/2026. This opportunity is open to international candidates who are looking to further their research in the life sciences.

  • Have not lived in Germany for over 15 months prior to the nomination.
  • Have graduated no earlier than six years prior to the nomination date (exceptions may apply according to DAAD guidelines).
  • Should not have previously completed a PhD.

Scholarship Benefits

Chosen applicants will benefit from a comprehensive scholarship package, including:

  • A monthly allowance of EUR 1,300.
  • Expense reimbursement based on the country of origin.
  • Comprehensive health, accident, and liability insurance.
  • A yearly study and research grant of EUR 460.
  • Additional rent and/or family support, if applicable.
  • Scholarship renewal for up to four years, based on academic performance.

The selection process for DAAD GSSP scholarships involves several steps:

  2. Virtual Interviews: Shortlisted candidates will receive invitations for virtual interviews.
  3. Nominations for DAAD GSSP: Selected individuals will be proposed for the DAAD scholarship.
  4. Final DAAD Application: Nominated candidates must submit an application through the DAAD portal.
  5. Final Decision: The DAAD makes the ultimate decision regarding scholarship awards.
