Study in Croatia: Croatian Government Scholarships 2024

The Croatian Government provides enticing scholarship options for international students who wish to engage in research or academic pursuits in Croatia during the 2024–2025 academic year. These scholarships encompass a wide range of research programs offered by officially recognized Croatian universities or research institutions.

Regarding the Scholarship Program

The Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, in collaboration with the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes, provides bilateral scholarships to international students, teachers, and research fellows who wish to pursue study, research, or gain professional experience in Croatian higher education institutions or research organizations.

The bilateral scholarships are available to higher education students and university professionals engaged in research or teaching activities. The granted mobilities are to be carried out within the academic year 2024/2025, namely from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025, excluding the months of July and August.

The bilateral scholarships provide chances for studying or conducting research in any academic discipline at a recognized public Croatian higher education or research institution, which will be established in advance, throughout the allocated period of mobility.

Benefits of Studying in Croatia

  1. Enrolling in English-language Education with Cost-effective Tuition Rates

Croatian universities provide a wide range of more than 50 bachelor and master programs taught in English, covering many disciplines of study. The tuition rates for international students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English will range from 1,000 to 4,000 euros per year at public universities, while private institutions may charge up to around 5,000 euros. Croatia is a cost-effective option for studying in the European Union, particularly when compared to countries in northern and western Europe.

  1. The Country is Safe

Many times, we fail to appreciate the importance of safety. Croatia ranks among the top 20 safest countries in the world according to the Global Peace Index and among the top 30 in the Social Progress Index. This information is essential when selecting your future educational institution.

  1. The Region Boasts a Mediterranean Climate and Stunning Natural Landscapes

The weather in Croatia varies depending on the region, but in general, it is advisable to plan your spring and summer wardrobe. The mainland region, which encompasses Zagreb, experiences frigid winters but exceptionally hot summers. The coastal districts, including Split and Dubrovnik, experience a Mediterranean climate characterized by abundant sunshine and the opportunity for swimming throughout the summer. Furthermore, there are more than 1,200 islands available for exploration. Alternatively, if you desire to lower your body temperature or have a desire to engage in the activity of skiing, the mountainous regions may be reached within an approximate one-hour drive from the major urban areas that have colleges.

  1. Economical Way of Life/Low Living Expenses

Croatia is highly affordable and can comfortably fit into your student budget. On average, students will allocate 200 to 300 euros per month for a room in a private lodging in Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, or Dubrovnik, depending on its size and location. The monthly cost of a transportation ticket is typically between 20 and 30 euros. Several cities provide accommodations in dormitories for overseas students.
