Roman Fada, also known as Phillip Appiah Kubi, will no longer be contesting in the 2024 Ghana presidential election under the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) banner. The Electoral Commission disqualified him due to multiple errors and alleged irregularities in his nomination forms, as reported by TV3’s Crosby Annan.

The Electoral Commission stated on Tuesday that the decision is final, emphasizing that no adjustments will be made to the positions on the ballot. Chairperson Jean Mensa confirmed, “Votes for Madam Akua Donkor will be annulled,” referencing the party’s previous candidate, Akua Donkor, who passed away on October 28, 2024, at Ridge Hospital in Accra.

Before

her passing, Akua Donkor had named Roman Fada as her running mate, making him her successor for the GFP’s presidential candidacy. Following her death, GFP formally informed the Electoral Commission of the change in a letter dated November 4, 2024. However, Roman Fada’s disqualification has effectively nullified that effort.

The ruling underscores the Electoral Commission’s strict adherence to procedural requirements in Ghana’s electoral process, emphasizing that every candidate must comply with the guidelines to maintain eligibility.
