Mr. Percival Kofi Akpaloo has said that there is nothing wrong with the Former President forming a parallel government. Mr. Akpaloo said when Mr. John Dramani Mahama forms a parallel government, nobody will recognize him as president of the Republic. The founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana said ‘’ nobody will recognize Mr. Mahama as president of the Republic’’.
According to Mr. Akpaloo, the National Democratic Congress as a party is agitating against the EC. Mr. Percival said NDC just want to tell Ghanaians that they are happy for the support and votes. Candidate John Mahama received a massive support in the just-ended elections.
Mr. Akpaloo’s statement comes days after the MP for Tamale Central Constituency told the Mr Mahama to make himself a president. Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, the MP for Tamale Constituency has said former President should pronounce himself president and form a parallel government.
Mr Inusah is of the view that John Mahama won the election hands down. Hence, there is a need to declare himself the President and form a parallel government.
Mr Inusah said ‘The impunity of this government which is legendary must stop and that’s how we stop it’.
Responding to this statement from the MP, Mr Akpaloo has endorsed the idea of forming a parallel government. But he stated emphatically that, the legitimacy of that government would be questionable.
According to Mr Akpaloo, parallel government is practiced everywhere. He added that even the advanced countries have parallel government, so nobody will prevent Mr Mahama for forming one.
However, Mahama cannot swear himself in as president of Ghana. Mr. Akpaloo told Kwame Tanko host of the show that all Mr Mahama can do is to call a retired chief Justice to do that for him on a weekend.
