New Visa Application System Implemented by US Embassy in Ghana

The US Embassy in Accra has transitioned to a new visa application platform, ending its previous services as of August 16, 2024. Applicants are now required to visit the new website to manage their visa processes.

This change affects all current and future US visa applicants, who will need to create new user accounts on the updated platform. This system will also allow applicants to manage their DHL delivery preferences.

Impact on Nonimmigrant Visa Applicants

Despite the switch, those with nonimmigrant visa interview appointments scheduled before the transition remain unaffected. However, any applicants who have paid their visa fees but haven’t scheduled an interview will need to complete this process on the new website, subject to appointment availability.

The embassy has reiterated the importance of staying vigilant against scams, particularly when it comes to the Diversity Visa (DV) lottery program. The embassy had previously announced the release of the DV lottery results on May 6, 2024.

Growing Demand for US Visas in Ghana

Visa demand in Ghana has surged significantly, with a 200 percent increase in applications since 2019. This trend highlights the growing interest among Ghanaians seeking opportunities in the US.
