Job Vacancies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, announces several vacancies effective 1st November 2024. These positions are open to the academic community and the general public.

1. Director, School of Graduate Studies (SGS)

Job Summary:
The Director leads the School of Graduate Studies, ensuring good governance in line with the University’s Act and Statutes.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a Professorial rank or equivalent.
  • Strong commitment to enhancing the University’s reputation for applied research and innovation.
  • Ability to collaborate with industry and stakeholders to translate research into valuable resources.
  • Experience in securing grants and funding for graduate research.
  • Distinguished scholar with strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Terms of Appointment:
Full-time appointment for three years, renewable for an additional three years based on performance. The total term can extend to six years, after which the candidate may opt to join the faculty.


2. Director, Institute of Distance Learning (IDL)

Job Summary:
The Director oversees the Institute, promoting efficiency and governance across ten regions, serving over 15,000 students.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a Professorial rank or similar.
  • Passionate about implementing innovative solutions to enhance distance learning.
  • Strategic planning skills to support the Institute’s technical infrastructure.
  • Ability to secure external funding and partnerships.
  • Proficient in using technology for professional development in teaching.

Terms of Appointment:
Full-time appointment for three years, renewable for an additional three years based on performance, totaling six years.


3. Director of University Health Services

Job Summary:
The Director is accountable for leading University Health Services, ensuring effective clinical training for medical students.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certified Medical Officer with registration from the Ghana Medical and Dental Council or equivalent.
  • Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience in medicine or dentistry.
  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills in the health sector.
  • At least five years of experience as a Consultant or Principal Medical Officer.

Terms of Appointment:
Full-time appointment for five years, renewable for another five years based on performance appraisal.
