Overview of Ghana effort on COVID-19

Before we discuss about Ghana effort on COVID-19 last first talk about how and where corona virus started.

Corona virus is now the deadly wide spread disease in the world. It originates from China a state called Wuhan in later part of 2019. Wuhan is the largest state in Central part of China, with a population over 11 million people.

From research made by scientist, they discovered that the viruses are common among mammals(animals). The incubation period of the virus is within 4 to 6 days. Those with weak immune system such old aged are likely contract this virus.

HOW IT ENTERED GHANA

First of foremost, the first case of corona virus case was discovered a one Friday 13th of March, 2020 and another on the following Saturday 15th March 2020. All these cases were recorded from people who were travelling from outside to Ghana

On 9th March 2020, another woman who also arrived from abroad all posed the symptoms. Also on 14th March, 2020 a 42 year old man arrived from Switzerland also had the symptom. They were all rushed to the hospital for blood test. All of these 6 cases were positive.

Ghana health officials alongside the information ministers started given travelling advise and discourage to those who travel through and outside Ghana.

HOW IT WAS SPREAD

The COVID-19 virus is widely spread through direct contact with the virus. Mostly, this happens when infected person comes in Contact with someone free from the virus. Contracting the virus does not necessary means you are going to die but it your immune system is strong enough to fight against the virus. You can rebuild system status and survive. Ways at which it can be transferred are

  • Infected person coughing without covering and mouth
  • Shaking hands with infected person
  • Infected person sneezing in the midst of people
  • Touching infected objects and after touching your nose or mouth

PREVENTIVE MEASURES TO MITIGATE THE SPREAD

Government of Ghana is doing her best to reduce the spread of the virus. His excellency N. A. D. A. Addo with his minister has put measures in place to curb the spread of the Virus.

Firstly, he ordered the ministers of foreign affairs to close all boarders so foreigners from abroad cannot enter the country until further notice. Also, Ghanaian were on him to close the airport which he did but citizens were saying it was too late. He places a measure to quarantine all those people whether being Ghanaian or Foreign entering Ghana by plane and isolated to a place for Health examination before allowing you to enter Ghana.

Also, there is a partial lockdown for 2 weeks. Institutions such as schools, churches and other form of social gathering has totally seized until further notice.  This restriction of movement is to reduce direct contact and so doing reduces the spread of virus.

The network providers such as MTN, Vodafone are also playing a key role in educating people reduce the spread and advising citizens to stay home. They send regular text message to their customers by telling them to say home and educating them use hand sanitizer often.

Common effort now

The government of Ghana is doing contact tracing by all those infected people who have contacted people before their infections was realized.

GENERAL PRESCIBE TREATMENT TO PREVENT YOUR SELF FROM CONTRACTING CORONA VIRUS

Mostly, practicing personal hygiene because there is no specific treatment. Sometimes you can be recovered automatically without experiencing any symptoms anymore:

  • Taking in a lot of fluid foods
  • Having enough rest
  • Hot shower can reduce cough and sore throat
  • It the symptoms persist consult your doictor

Infected person experiences:

  • Abnormal cough
  • Severe fever
  • Fatigues/Tiredness
  • Breathing difficulties
