Rev. Professor Paul Frimpong-Manso has expressed his unhappiness over the attacks directed at the National Peace Council. Rev. Professor Paul Frimpong-Manso is the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church.
Rev. Professor Paul Frimpong–Manso also serves on the National Peace Council.
He called for a guided approach when dealing with National Peace Council and the country’s law courts. Rev. Frimpong – Manso was speaking at the 18th annual thanksgiving service of the First Sky Group.
Rev. Professor Paul Frimpong–Manso appealed that people should desist from chastising the Supreme Court and the legal system. He added that whenever he sees people chastising the Legal System, it pains him very much. As head of a church, he calling on people to be cautious whenever there are issues pertaining to the law court.
‘’We are working tirelessly at the perils of our lives’’, he added. The National Peace Council member said criticism should therefore cease.
Rev. Professor Paul Frimpong–Manso indicated that the NPC refusing to comment on certain issues does not mean the Council is not working.
Attacks on Peace Council
The National Peace Council has over the years been attacked. This is usually over what particularly opposition parties consider as inaction on the part of the council.
The National Democratic Congress claims its flagbearer, former President John Mahama won the 2020 polls. Or at best the elections should go into run-off and not the victory the Electoral Commission Chairperson declared.
On 9th December, 2020, Jean Mensah – led Electoral Commission declared President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as president elect. But Rev. Professor Paul Frimpong–Manso said two Peace Council’s vehicles were attacked and they were damaged.
Rev Dr Ernest Adu-Gyamfi recounted that most of NPC members are traumatized. The attacks were physical and, in some cases, gunshots were fired in their presence.
