The DW Akademie Ghana Office is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Project Manager

DW Akademie is Deutsche Welle’s center for international media development, journalism training, and knowledge transfer. With projects in more than 50 countries worldwide, our work strengthens the human right to freedom of expression and unhindered access to information. DW Akademie empowers people to make independent decisions based on reliable facts and constructive dialogue.

The project manager is responsible for the steering of a project line.

  • He or she supports our main project partner to develop and implement project activities on time within budget and within scope. This includes supporting the partner in administrative processes, monitoring as well as preparation of project reports.
  • The project manager also cooperates with different partners and stakeholders in Ghana.
  • He/she networks with other DW Akademie teams and international initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in journalism, communication, or any other appropriate field of study
  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in project management, ideally within an
    international organization
  • Working experience in journalism or in the fields of freedom of expression and/or media development desired
  • Very good knowledge of the media landscape in Ghana.
  • Excellent analytical skills and critical faculties and the ability to work independently but as an integral part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and solid self-management
  • skills, including attention to detail A high sense of responsibility, flexibility and commitment
  • Experience in working with the Microsoft Office package, communicating on social media, and knowledge of digital learning tools
  • Interest in topics of international cooperation, democracy, and human rights and in working in an intercultural context
  • Basic knowledge of German an asset
  • Willingness and readiness to travel
  • The full-time position is initially limited to an employment period of 12 months. Contract renewal is possible but not guaranteed.
