The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has served notice to the Supreme Court. This comes after weeks of demonstration and conferences, challenging the result of the 2020 general elections. The National Democratic Congress has finally made its decision to challenge EC’s declaration in court.
The National Democratic Congress has asserted that the Electoral Commission together with the NPP has rigged the elections. Since December 7, the party has complained about various act of infractions.
But as the party prepares itself for this battle, seasoned journalist Kweku Baako has sent a word of caution to the NDC.
Kweku Baako has reminded the NDC and its sympathizers that rumors and guess are not acceptable in court.
Baako added that the popular say ‘any idiot can go to court’ must note a caution that the court does not question suspicions. He said the court deal with facts, evidence and law.
Notwithstanding, Baako has praised the NDC for challenging the EC’s decision in court. Baako in a separate post applauded the party over its decision to go to court and contest Jean Mensa’s result.
Just like the then Candidate Akufo-Addo, his running mate, Bawumia and late Jake did in the wake of the declaration of the results in 2012. I will commend Mahama for opting to activate Article 64(1) Constitution of Ghana.
Under the current rules, John Mahama will be only recognized as the petitioner. John Mahama is the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress.
Interestingly, Rule 4 of C.I 99 has introduced a new Rule 69BA which effectively stops joinder not stated in the Presidential Election Petition. What this means is that there shall not be a repetition of the 2013 situation. Even though it was not initially included in the list of respondents then.
