Job Summary

As the Branch Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial activities of the branch. Your responsibilities will include representing the entire Finance function within the branch, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, maintaining internal controls, and providing accurate and timely financial reporting. You will work closely with the Head of Accounts to support the overall financial management of the branch.

Responsibilities

• Review Monthly Reports: Analyze monthly branch reports and provide concise summaries to the Head of Finance.
• Financial Operations: Oversee and sanitize the financial operations of the branch, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
• Anomaly Detection: Record and report any anomalies or unexplained transactions to the Head of Finance for further investigation.
• Sales Review: Conduct detailed reviews of daily, weekly, and monthly sales figures, identifying trends and potential areas for improvement.
• Expense Management: Monitor branch expenses on a monthly basis, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
• Statutory Reporting: Ensure all statutory reporting requirements are met and submitted to the Head Office in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience

• Professional Qualification: Possession of a professional qualification in Accountancy such as CA, CIMA, or ACCA, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Advanced Education: A Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) is considered an advantage and demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning.
• Retail Experience: Prior experience in a retail environment is desirable, providing valuable insights into the unique challenges and opportunities within the sector.
