President Nana Akufo-Addo has fired Sarah Adwoa Safo, the minister for gender, children, and social welfare.
Adwoa Safo, who is also a member of parliament for Dome Kwabenya, had her appointment cancelled by the president in compliance with article 81 (a) of the constitution, according to a statement from the presidency signed by Eugene Arhin, director of communications.
The President’s decision was made when Parliament was debating whether she should continue to reside in the house after being absent for more than 15 sitting days without the Speaker’s consent.
Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, earlier today postponed making a decision regarding Adwoa Safo, who was given a note for being absent.
